2001 Season:

Suffield's Dustin Sanderson
Dear All Players and Coaches:
Recently, one of our players at Suffield, Dustin Sanderson, a 15 year old boy from Orangeville, Ontario, suffered a devastating injury.
On Saturday, August 11th around 5:00 pm during the Midget Ontario Championship Tournament, Dustin was taken by ambulance to Credit Valley Hospital where he was diagnosed with a severe fracture in his neck and shortly after, transferred to a hospital in Toronto. At present, Dustin is unable to move most of his body.
Dustin is talking and breathing on his own and had surgery on August 21st to stabilize the spinal column. The procedure involved inserting a steel plate and taking a bone graft from Dustin's right hip for further support. Though the surgery was not intended to improve his mobility, it does allow him to begin a lengthy rehabilitation process. Dustin is still able to talk and breathe on his own.
Because Dustin recovered so well from surgery at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, he was transferred to Lindhurst Rehabilitation earlier than expected. He will remain at Lindhurst for at least 3 months and possibly up to 10 months where he will begin a rigorous program of both physical and occupational therapy.
Donations can be made to any CIBC, Transit # 7052, Account # 4951662 under Phil and Susan Sanderson, In Trust Account for Dustin Sanderson.
Plans are being made for members of our team to see Dustin later this fall, but in the meantime, we ask that you all keep Dustin in mind.
Thank you.
